Teaching Floral Art at Love Duo: An Orchid Workshop with BusinessWoman Magazine

Flowers are often admired from a distance. At Love Duo, we wanted people to experience them through their own hands.

Hosted in collaboration with BusinessWoman Magazine (Tạp Chí Nữ Doanh Nhân), this special workshop invited guests to step beyond simply observing flowers and discover the creative process behind contemporary floral design.

As gentle piano music filled the space, the morning settled into a quiet rhythm. The workshop became less about completing a floral piece and more about enjoying the process of creating it—one curve of rattan, one orchid bloom, one thoughtful decision at a time.

Rather than creating a traditional bouquet, participants explored a sculptural floral piece built with flowing rattan and fresh white orchids. Inspired by organic movement and contemporary floral design, the workshop encouraged guests to see flowers not only as decoration, but as a medium for artistic expression.

The workshop concept was developed by Flor Saigon and opened with a live demonstration by Lê An Nhi, Founder & Art Director, who introduced the thinking behind the sculptural design and shared how movement, balance and negative space shaped the final piece. Alongside her, Hoàng Yến, Floral Designer at Flor Saigon, helped bring each step to life before guiding participants through the hands-on session. Together, they translated Flor's design philosophy into an experience that felt approachable, engaging and deeply personal.

As participants began creating their own pieces, the focus shifted from demonstration to exploration. From building the sculptural rattan form to placing each orchid with intention, every step encouraged them to understand movement, proportion and composition rather than simply recreating a finished design. Each artwork gradually took on its own character while remaining connected through the same contemporary design language.

One of the most rewarding moments came as participants realised they had created something they never imagined they could make themselves. What began as simple strips of rattan and delicate orchid blooms gradually transformed into sculptural floral artworks, each reflecting its maker's own interpretation.

For Flor Saigon, every workshop is an invitation to experience flowers differently. Beyond learning techniques, it is a chance to slow down, observe, create and discover the thinking behind contemporary floral design. Whether in our studio or as part of a community event like Love Duo, we hope every participant leaves with not only a floral piece, but also a new perspective on flowers.
