From Seoul to Flor Saigon: Learning to Create Her Own Bridal Bouquet

People come to Flor Saigon for different reasons. Some hope to pursue floristry as a profession, while others simply want to spend time with flowers. When SeoHee first wrote to us from Seoul, she shared something that immediately stayed with us. She had a wedding planned for next year, but she hadn't decided on the dress or the venue yet. What she did know was that she wanted to make her own bridal bouquet.

She had been collecting references of bouquets she loved, wondering if they would be possible for a beginner to create. At the same time, she was curious about Vietnamese floral design. Growing up in Korea, she was familiar with Korean bouquet aesthetics, but wanted to see how flowers are approached in Vietnam and experience a different design language through a private workshop.

That curiosity brought her to our studio in Ho Chi Minh City for a one-on-one session led by Lê An Nhi, Founder and Art Director of Flor Saigon. Every private workshop begins with listening. Before arranging a single stem, we talked about her wedding, the feeling she hoped to create and what she wanted the bouquet to say about her. The workshop naturally unfolded from there, shaped around her story rather than a fixed lesson plan.

Together, we explored the Korean bridal bouquet, a style admired for its clean silhouette, gentle proportions and quiet elegance. While it appears effortless, every flower is carefully considered. The placement of each stem, the amount of negative space and the relationship between flowers all contribute to the calm, refined feeling that defines this style. Throughout the session, SeoHee also experimented with different wrapping materials and bouquet finishes, discovering how subtle changes can completely transform the character of an arrangement.

Along the way, we spoke about the differences between Korean and Vietnamese floral aesthetics. Rather than comparing which is better, we looked at how each reflects its own culture, seasons and way of seeing beauty. Those conversations became just as valuable as the practical techniques, because learning flowers is also learning to observe.

By the end of the workshop, SeoHee held the bouquet she had created herself for the very first time.

It may not be the exact bouquet she will carry on her wedding day. Her dress may change, the venue may change and her ideas may continue to evolve over the coming months. But for us, that was never the point. What mattered was seeing the confidence that appeared the moment she looked down at the bouquet in her hands and realised, "I can do this."

Perhaps next year, somewhere in Seoul, she will walk into her wedding carrying a bouquet she made herself. If that happens, we'll be honoured to know that a small part of its story began here, at Flor Saigon.
