Street Ritual

A vivid floral totem transforming street chaos into sacred rhythm

ree

From the rhythm of everyday streets to the quiet pulse of ritual. Street Ritual reimagines fragments of Saigon’s daily life - stools, baskets, cabbages, and neon lights - into a vibrant floral totem.

Each object, once ordinary, becomes a vessel of memory and movement. The installation celebrates how chaos and beauty coexist, turning the familiar disorder of the street into a sacred form of harmony.

Behind the work

Built entirely from found materials - plastic stools, woven baskets, cabbage leaves, rattan frames, and market containers - the totem was assembled layer by layer, balancing rhythm, weight, and color. Neon tubes were woven through the frame to echo the pulse of Saigon nightlife, while floral clusters of roses, chrysanthemums, and anthuriums grounded the piece in nature’s warmth.

The installation took place at District Eight TDX Ice Factory, District 1, an industrial space that mirrors the city’s raw energy and contrasts beautifully with the delicate chaos of the flowers. Visitors were invited to move around, observe from different angles, and rediscover ordinary street objects through a new lens - poetic, playful, and deeply Saigonese.
