Designing a Garden Wedding That Felt Effortless

A wedding where flowers didn't simply decorate the space—they became part of the landscape. Discover the design thinking behind one of Flor Saigon's garden weddings.

The dinner tables were arranged to frame the central space, while florals, candlelight and overhead string lights gently connected each area of the evening.

Rather than treating each element separately, the styling was designed as one continuous setting — from the tablescape to the stage and the surrounding garden.

Soft linens, vintage glassware, muted florals and a little wildness around the edges.

The details were kept light enough for the table to breathe.

𝗔 𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻, 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲.

For this outdoor celebration, we wanted the flowers to feel less like arrangements and more like a landscape unfolding through the space.

Garden flowers, fine grasses, winding branches and earthen vessels move between the tables, creating pockets of colour, texture and movement while leaving the centre open.

The result is intentionally loose, a dinner setting that feels gathered from the garden rather than placed within it.

Movement becomes more convincing when something chooses to hold it.

The calla lilies extend beyond the composition, while the dense palm structure quietly gathers them back. Every curve leaves, then returns.

The first decision wasn't white. It was weight.

A dense foundation anchors the composition before lighter materials gradually release it upward. Curved branches introduce movement without disturbing the stillness below, allowing solidity and openness to exist at the same time.

Balance isn't found through symmetry. It emerges when every element carries only the weight it needs.

The arrangement doesn't reveal itself while it's being made.

During installation, every decision belongs to its own question: one adjustment, one proportion, one interval at a time. Only after everything settles do those individual choices begin to speak together.

The composition isn't completed by the final stem. It's completed when every decision feels as though it has always belonged beside the next.

Every recurring installation begins with the same question: What does this space need today?

This week, the answer wasn't a stronger focal point. It was a slower rhythm. Finer foliage, lighter stems and open intervals allow the composition to breathe. White chrysanthemums appear less as flowers than as moments of pause, giving the eye somewhere to rest before continuing its path.

Height becomes the quiet anchor of the composition. The lower forms gather with weight and restraint, allowing a single vertical line to rise without interruption. What appears tallest isn't louder—only more certain.

This bouquet began with a single design decision: to let contrast remain unresolved.

The movement of calla is interrupted by deep burgundy forms that hold the composition in place. One invites the eye to travel, the other asks it to pause. The tension isn't softened or hidden. It becomes the structure of the bouquet itself.

People come to Flor for many reasons. Some want to become florists. Others simply want to spend time with flowers.

When SeoHee contacted us from Seoul, she already knew one thing about her wedding: she wanted to make her own bridal bouquet. She hadn't chosen the dress or the venue yet, but she wanted to understand the bouquet she would eventually carry.

During our private workshop, we explored Korean bridal bouquet design together. Beyond the techniques, we spent time talking about proportion, movement, wrapping materials, and how small decisions can completely change the feeling of a bouquet.

At the end of the day, SeoHee left the studio holding the first bridal bouquet she had ever made herself.

We don't know if it will be the bouquet she carries on her wedding day. But hopefully, when that day comes, she'll remember that it all started here.

Some journeys begin with a quiet sense of curiosity. After discovering Flor from Cambodia, Nabi chose to spend a few days in Saigon for a private floral design workshop.

Rather than focusing on a single bouquet, we explored two distinct design languages: Garden-Style and Korean Bouquet Design. Similar in silhouette, each is guided by a different way of seeing, composing, and responding to flowers.

The days unfolded through observation, conversation, and making. Each arrangement became less about reaching a predetermined result and more about understanding how personal decisions shape a composition.

The composition reveals itself by degrees.
Layers of linear foliage create a shifting screen, allowing the orchid to appear through carefully measured openings rather than commanding immediate attention. The arrangement is built around partial visibility, where overlap becomes a compositional tool instead of an obstacle. Depth is created not by adding volume, but by deciding what remains momentarily concealed.

A compact field of deep crimson anchors one side, while a single arc of phalaenopsis stretches outward, shifting the visual centre beyond the vessel itself. Rather than correcting the asymmetry, the arrangement depends on it. Stability emerges through proportion, where weight and reach negotiate the same space without ever becoming equal.

Some materials become more articulate after they begin to fade.
Qua Mùa was composed by resisting the instinct to replace what had already changed. Weathered palm leaves remain alongside fresh protea, their contrasting states creating a composition shaped by time rather than interrupted by it. The dried surfaces introduce a quieter texture, allowing the saturated forms of the protea to hold greater presence without demanding attention. Nothing is treated as an imperfection waiting to be removed. Instead, the arrangement accepts that different moments can occupy the same space, and that continuity is often built through what remains.
