Some journeys begin with a quiet sense of curiosity. After discovering Flor from Cambodia, Nabi chose to spend a few days in Saigon for a private floral design workshop.

Rather than focusing on a single bouquet, we explored two distinct design languages: Garden-Style and Korean Bouquet Design. Similar in silhouette, each is guided by a different way of seeing, composing, and responding to flowers.

The days unfolded through observation, conversation, and making. Each arrangement became less about reaching a predetermined result and more about understanding how personal decisions shape a composition.

Weathered palm leaves remain alongside fresh protea, their contrasting states creating a composition shaped by time rather than interrupted by it. The dried surfaces introduce a quieter texture, allowing the saturated forms of the protea to hold greater presence without demanding attention. Nothing is treated as an imperfection waiting to be removed. Instead, the arrangement accepts that different moments can occupy the same space, and that continuity is often built through what remains.

A Private Lotus Workshop with Chooilin

Some workshops begin with flowers. This one began with a name.

When Chooilin travelled from Malaysia to Flor Saigon, she already knew which flower she wanted to work with. In Chinese, her name carries the meaning of lotus, making the choice feel personal long before the workshop began.

Together, we spent the morning exploring a little piece of Saigon—from Lăng Ông Bà Chiểu to the bustling flower stalls of Bà Chiểu Market, where she selected the lotus stems that would become the heart of her arrangement.

Back at the studio, surrounded by the quiet sound of Huế royal court music, we worked slowly, allowing each stem to find its own place. Rather than following a fixed formula, the workshop became an exploration of balance, rhythm, and the natural movement of lotus.

More than a floral design session, it became a way of experiencing Vietnam through its flowers, local markets, music, and everyday rituals.

Some journeys begin with a quiet sense of curiosity. After discovering Flor from Cambodia, Nabi chose to spend a few days in Saigon for a private floral design workshop.

Rather than focusing on a single bouquet, we explored two distinct design languages: Garden-Style and Korean Bouquet Design. Similar in silhouette, each is guided by a different way of seeing, composing, and responding to flowers.

The days unfolded through observation, conversation, and making. Each arrangement became less about reaching a predetermined result and more about understanding how personal decisions shape a composition.

Qua Mùa was composed by resisting the instinct to replace what had already changed. Weathered palm leaves remain alongside fresh protea, their contrasting states creating a composition shaped by time rather than interrupted by it. The dried surfaces introduce a quieter texture, allowing the saturated forms of the protea to hold greater presence without demanding attention. Nothing is treated as an imperfection waiting to be removed. Instead, the arrangement accepts that different moments can occupy the same space, and that continuity is often built through what remains.
